One of my favorite quilt blocks is called Odd Fellows Cross with a combination of lone star and wild geese motifs I don t know what it is but I just LOVE making those stars and triangles You can download the pattern here It has 3 pieces only and goes together quickly The block construction is the same as as used in the Kentucky Cross Roads block Odd Fellows Cross pattern pieces The 3 pieces are pieced and sewn together diagonally

According to quilt historian Barbara Brackman the Odd Fellow s Chain block originated before 1895 it s 2170 in her Encyclopedia if you re curious It s frequently seen in antique quilts and is usually set with all the seams matching so that secondary patterns are formed This quilt block is known by a few different names including Odd Fellows Chain Odd Fellow s March Old Maid s Ramble or San Diego It s a pretty cool quilt block especially when you see it in a quilt layout as it creates a pretty neat secondary pattern We will be stitching this block to the right of Block 1
